I recently ran into an old buddy of mind. He was using a App on his IPhone to make beats. I was curious so I played around with it for a while just to see what it could do.
I though the app was pretty decent… limited …but decent.
So I looked around and did some research just to see just what could be done on these mobile beat maker apps.
The first big problem I found is some of the beat making apps for Mobile Phones have latency or timing issues.
Latency is when you hit the keypad for a sound and the sound plays late.
The apps are inexpensive, costing $2 - 20 but are very limited in sounds and creativity. Most of these mobile music maker apps are made as a novelty items. I would recommend these for people who just want to play around and make music.
But for serious beatmakers and producers you need some more serious features...
Like…
Lots of Instruments Sounds - The more high quality instrument sounds, the more music genre who can create(Hip Hop, Rock, Hyphy, Pop, etc…)
The Ablity to Upgrade - At some point you will want to add more sounds and instruments… find out it you can do so.
Compatible with other devices - You don’t want to be stuck making music just on your phone, so find out is the beat making application compatible with other Phones and devices.
